About Habitat for Humanity

Founded in 1976 in Americus, Georgia, USA, Habitat for Humanity today operates around the globe and has helped build, renovate, and repair more than 600,000 decent, affordable houses sheltering more than 3 million people worldwide.

Houses are sold to families at no profit. Each local Habitat sets up a nondiscriminatory family selection process. The committee ensures that the homes are affordable based on each family's circumstances.
